Bushehr: As part of the ongoing US–Israeli military campaign against Iran, an Iranian passenger aircraft was destroyed on the ground at Bushehr Airport on Tuesday during a series of military strikes, according to Iranian media.
The aircraft belonged to Iran Air. Iranian media reported that a passenger plane was “destroyed on the ground” in the strike on the airport.
Bushehr is located along the Persian Gulf and also hosts Iran’s only operational nuclear power plant, raising concerns over the broader implications of the strikes.
The Mehrabad Airport in Tehran was also targeted, the Mehr News Agency stated . The agency published images showing thick grey smoke rising near what appeared to be a runway.
Meanwhile, Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israeli pilots are over the skies of Iran and Lebanon, and that the Jewish nation will continue to respond with great force.
The United States-Israel military campaign against Iran entered its fourth day with continued airstrikes and retaliatory exchanges. The operations, codenamed Epic Fury and Roaring Lion, reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior IRGC commanders, creating a leadership vacuum and heightening risks of wider regional escalation.
