The Cheesecake Factory Bakery set for Indian debut, inks agreement with The Gourmet Cafe

The Cheesecake Factory Bakery is making its debut in India through a strategic partnership with The Gourmet Cafe. The Cheesecake Factory is an iconic American restaurant company and distributor of cheesecakes.

Under this distribution agreement the Gourmet Cafe plans to open 55 outlets of the Cheesecake Factory Bakery in India , offering the dessert and bakery portfolio of the brand to Indian consumers.

Masthan Adam, Founder & CEO of The Gourmet Cafe, told businessline,“ The agreement covers both B2B and B2C operations rather than a traditional franchise structure. The outlets will operate in a QSR format featuring cheesecakes, bakery items, coffee and ice cream.”

The first outlet has been opened in Bengaluru and the company will be ramping up the footprint to metros cities and even tier-1 cities in a phased manner.

The brand will be positioned in the premium dessert segment with online expected to contribute around 20–30 per cent of revenues. “The brand is positioned in the premium dessert segment, focusing on cheesecake specialisation and differentiated portion sizes compared to local offerings. We are aiming to garner revenues of Rs 200–250 crore over the next five years,” he added.

“All cheesecakes are manufactured in the USA and shipped frozen to ensure authenticity and consistency. Also for the first time, we will have an eggless cheesecake which has been approved specifically for the Indian market, marking a key localisation milestone. We will begin with offering about from 14 flavors of cheesecakes and expand it to 20–25 variants in the coming months,” Adam explained.
