Reliance’s JioStar appointed Amit Malhotra as the company’s Head of International Business, as per an internal memo seen by businessline. He will be reporting to Kevin Vaz, CEO – Entertainment, JioStar, and Kiran Mani, CEO – Digital, JioStar.
Malhotra, who joined JioStar in the latter half of February, will look at the international growth trajectory of the organisation and will be based out of Singapore. Malhotra also works as an advisor to Affinity Equity and Emtek Group and sits on the Board of Governors of Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore and is Chairman of the Advisory Committee for the School of Design and Media of the tertiary institution. He will operate the product, markets, and external ecosystems, acting as both a strategic architect and a leader to ensure differentiated value to consumers across geographies. This would include both white labelling and market launches.
“Malhotra will be accountable for articulating a compelling vision for international markets, positioning them as strategic contributors to enterprise growth and translating global ambition into market-specific growth by leading launches, building high-impact partnerships, and accelerating innovation in overseas markets,” said the note.
Malhotra was the Managing Director of Warner Media’s direct-to-consumer platforms in India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Prior to his 2021 move to Warner Media, he was with the Walt Disney Company for 17 years, most recently having served as Regional Lead for Disney+ in Southeast Asia.
