Diversified agri-business major Godrej Agrovet is expanding its product portfolio and strengthening its distribution networks in the North and East for its Crop Protection business as a part of its growth strategy going forward.
The company’s new plant for the crop protection business in Gujarat’s Dahej, expected to be commissioned by May this year, will manufacture newly-launched products along with existing products.
“New products are coming up, so they need more production capacities. New formulations are also coming in. We have made a commitment that every year we will be launching one new product. Aligning to this entire business strategy, we have decided to set up the new manufacturing facility at Dahej,” NK Rajavelu, CEO – Crop Protection Business, Godrej Agrovet, told media in Kolkata on Friday.
The company currently has two manufacturing plants in Jammu and Maharashtra.
Multi-crop insecticide
It has launched a new multi-crop insecticide “TAKAI”. Powered by Japanese technology, TAKAI offers quick control and longer-lasting protection against major lepidopteran pests viz ‘caterpillar-type’ insects that damage crops thereby helping farmers improve overall crop health.
Because of its nature of product portfolio, the company has a very strong presence in the South and West.
“Around 60 percent of our total sales are coming from the South and West. We are now improving our distribution network in the East and North,” Rajavelu said.
“Our strategy is to move into at least 10 major crops in the country. We are now present in five to six crops And, we are introducing new products every year to capture the market,” he added.
