Woodside Energy Group, headquartered in Perth, is planning to set up an office in Bengaluru, according to its recent LinkedIn post.
The company has also added job postings for roles, including AI Manager, Team Lead – Cyber Defence and Onshore Manager.
The move signals the Australian energy major’s intent to tap into India’s technology and engineering talent base.
It also comes at a time when Bengaluru is projected to lead Asia-Pacific office leasing activity, with 12 mn sq ft expected to lease in 2026, according to CBRE, reinforcing its position as a preferred GCC and innovation hub.
Recently, Airbus India has also annouced its plans to open its Technology Centre in Bengaluru’s Titanium Tech Park near in Whitefield.
Prior to this, Amazon India has opened its second-largest Asia office in Bengaluru, spanning 1.1 million sq ft which will house 7,000 employees.
Bengaluru, though, has been seeing competition from Hyderabad, and Pune continues to lead India’s GCC landscape, accounting for 42.8 mn sq. ft. leased from 2020 to 2024 (38 per cent national share), according to Savills, which cumulatively accounts for 70 per cent of the country’s 112 million sq. ft.
