SastaSundar low-cost healthcare plan expands with second JITO Health clinic in Kolkata

SastaSundar is scaling a hybrid healthcare model that combines neighbourhood integrated clinics, digital medical services, and a pharmaceutical distribution network. The company has opened its second JITO Health clinic at Lake Avenue in south Kolkata and is assessing three expansion models, including affordable retail clinics, NGO partnerships, and a digital backend support approach.

SastaSundar is increasing its hybrid healthcare model that links local clinics, online medical services and a large medicine supply chain. A company official said the approach aims to widen access to low-cost care. The expansion includes a second JITO Health clinic in Kolkata at Lake Avenue in south Kolkata.

Company founder and executive chairman B L Mittal said affordability remains central to the plan. “Our vision has always been to bridge the gap between quality and affordability in healthcare,\” Mittal said. Mittal also said the model connects in-person care with digital support and medicine access, to reduce cost barriers.

SastaSundar healthcare network expansion models

The company is assessing three ways to grow its healthcare network, the official said. One option focuses on low-cost retail clinics for middle and lower-income households. Another explores partnerships with NGOs, where care could be subsidised or free for poorer patients. The third model offers digital systems and supply support to institutions.

Under the third approach, SastaSundar would back organisations that have space but lack healthcare expertise, the official said. It would provide technology, processes and supply chain assistance. The official said this is intended to help more sites start services without building full medical operations from scratch.

SastaSundar pharmaceutical distribution and Retail Shakti scale

A key part of the strategy is the pharmaceutical distribution arm Retail Shakti. Through it, SastaSundar supplies medicines to about 65,000 retail outlets. This is out of nearly 2.5 lakh pharmacy shops across West Bengal, Noida and Assam. Mittal said the distribution business brings in about Rs 100 crore monthly.

The supply chain is supported by a 1.25 lakh sq ft automated pharmaceutical warehouse in Kolkata. The facility processes orders using computerised picking and packaging systems. The company said this setup helps manage large volumes across its network. It also supports delivery needs for both offline and online channels.

SastaSundar digital services and Health Buddy operations

SastaSundar also runs an online medicine delivery platform called Health Buddy. The platform completes orders through about 250 stores. It generates around Rs 25 crore in revenue each month, Mittal said. The company links these online orders with its wider supply chain to manage fulfilment.

SastaSundar is extending operations beyond West Bengal, with growth in Noida and the Northeast. The company is planning a new warehouse in Guwahati to meet higher demand in the region. Mittal said the wider strategy joins clinics, digital consultations and distribution to improve affordability and reach.
