NEW DELHI: A Delhi court Wednesday convicted Asiya Andrabi, the founder of Kashmiri women separatist organisation Dukhtaraan-e-Millat, and two of her associates – Sofi Fehmeeda and Nahida Nasreen – for conspiring to “wage war against the country”.Additional sessions judge Chander Jit Singh of NIA court held the trio guilty under UAPA and IPC. The court listed the matter for Jan 17 to hear arguments on quantum of sentence.The all-woman separatist outfit was established in 1987 by Asiya, who was arrested in 2018 after NIA registered a case. She was taken into custody for allegedly planning to organise a large-scale demonstration and stone-pelting. The FIR alleged the three “are actively running a terrorist organisation” that’s proscribed under UAPA.
